“About
Malaika Secret”
A person’s house represents the character of the owner. Entering Malaika’s home is a visually pleasing experience. In front of the entrance is a gong that replaces the bell. When the door is opened, we are treated to the greens from various plants. The view is colored with green, brown, and blue collection to spoil the eyes. Green from plants, brown from trees and wooden furniture, also blue from a swimming pool. Various wooden furnishings and antique objects show that Malaika loves art and history. In addition to several rooms filled with “treasures,” there is a wooden house with yellow and turquoise colors. Beautiful. Meaningful.
Moving inside, we will see an open kitchen called the kitchen lab. In this place, many extraordinary menus were born from Malaika’s hand. The smell of Pumpkin Bread makes us want to sink our teeth into the tempting yellow color. Sweet Potato Bread can bring a childish feeling to life because of its beautiful purple. Like her house, Malaika’s creations are beautiful and have a strong character. Some of Malaika’s signature works are gluten and sugar-free food. As she used to say, “No sugar, of course!”
Malaika
Her friends call her Malaika. To some people, Malaika is also known as Bugung, short for Ibu Agung or Great Mother. Coming from the royal family of Tabanan, Bali, Malaika’s position is indeed considered unique among the local community. But all the respect, appreciation, and love that Malaika received was not only because of her family’s royal blood. Malaika’s name is well-known as a businesswoman whose role is to create jobs and help people who come into contact with her. Sit with Malaika for a while; one can get valuable information. The discussion could be about the twists and turns of business, how to live a healthy life overcoming an illness, to spirituality.
“Food architect,” Malaika answered when asked about her profession. In reality, it is not that easy to answer this question. Aside from being a food architect, Malaika, who owns several food businesses, is also engaged in the beauty, fashion, furniture, property, and wellness sectors.
Healing Food
The owner of Lemo Beach Café is famous for her delicious and healthy food creations. “Too good to be true!” The praise often heard from her customers is not an exaggeration. How could not? The signature Blueberry Cheese Cake is mouthwatering but also gluten and sugar-free. Coconut Coffee, which even those on intermittent fasting can enjoy, tastes sweet without sugar. Many delicious foods presumed to be “sinful” do not have sugar and gluten. All the pleasures that make the tongue wag are not followed by health consequences or weight gain.
One of Malaika’s expertise is her understanding of the fermentation process. Her interest in fermentation was also influenced by the stories of her grandfather, who struggled during colonialism. Malaika’s grandfather told her without fermentation, it would be difficult for the fighters and the people to survive in times of war because of food scarcity. This is combined with Malaika’s curiosity and great interest in science. Checking the contents of food or whatever she made in the laboratory is ordinary to her. Science experiments are also expected. Malaika can even formulate what facial care products suit someone based on their blood sample.
Malaika's Career
Since childhood, Malaika has shown her uniqueness. She graduated four years early. Her stubbornness balances his intelligence, which begins with her great curiosity. From riding a buffalo plowing the fields, selling rujak in the middle of the areas causing his friends to run out of savings, to going to Jakarta alone without parental permission.
Starting her career in hospitality as a secretary to the CEO, Malaika learned how to manage and lead a company. Her incredible intelligence and enthusiasm allowed her to become the CEO of the hotel. In addition, her passion for the arts resulted in garments, accessories, furniture, and structures to suit her taste. “Size matters” is Malaika’s principle. This can be seen in a sofa design that looks big and sturdy but is still aesthetic. With an understanding of physics, she explained why the big chair could still support the weight of the human sitting without damaging the floor underneath.
Turning Point
At one point in her life, Malaika felt she had received a message from Sang Hyang Widhi. At that time, she had six restaurants and a spa. She suddenly felt, “The food I sell is delicious, but not all is good for health. Even though it is economical, it can be detrimental to health.” She then sold all her restaurants and focused on wellness. Malaika continued her spa business and started a healthy food business.
Of course, getting to that point takes work. Previously when continuing Malaika’s education abroad, she came to an organic food exhibition and was amazed by the thoughts of people of different nationalities who were in harmony with hers. To live well, humans must be in harmony with nature. Humans can also maintain a healthy body when they eat food that grows in a natural and preserved environment. Malaika thinks that the potential of farmers in Bali, in her hometown, is outstanding to meet the demand for organic food. The Balinese can do it, too, Malaika thought.
“Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could help someone without explaining? We just put something good in his body, and he becomes healthier. We can also help farmers and the organic food industry.” That was Malaika’s thought when she pursued a healing food business that uses the best organic ingredients.
In doing business, Malaika realizes she doesn’t have to do everything herself. She did not hesitate to lend her land to farmers, then buy their crops at a fair price. For the packaging of her various products, Malaika entrusts her neighbors so they, too, can benefit from the business she runs.
Malaika's Privileges
When asked what makes her creation different, even though some have similar products, Malaika answered taksu. In Balinese, taksu means the natural power that arises from love in the heart. Sounds romantic? But Bali is indeed the Island of the Gods. Everything in Bali is rooted in spiritualism, respect for nature, gods, and Sang Hyang Widhi. Intention and emotion are fundamental in doing anything. It’s not an overstatement when her regulars say, “Whatever comes out of Malaika’s hands tastes good.”
Several restaurants and cafes in Bali source food from Malaika. Currently, Malaika is working with Pyramid of Chi by Malaika in Ubud, Bali, and most recently, Sanjiwani Healing Space by Malaika in Tegalalang, Bali. Pyramid of Chi has experienced many improvements since Malaika joined them in early 2022. Many positive online reviews can prove the improvement in quality and sales.
Malaika has opened herself to the franchise and semi-franchise opportunities. As long as her values align, she is happy to share the knowledge and experience she has gained during his 30 years in business.
Malaika's Work
Apart from all kinds of delicious healthy food, Malaika makes concoctions based on her knowledge of Old Ancient Medicine. As part of the Balinese kingdom, Malaika also has access to the lontar heirlooms inherited from her ancestors, which contain various knowledge, including spices and herbs. By combining the much knowledge she has, Malaika creates Manamu and Akaru. Manamu is an efficacious hair oil that strengthens and conditions hair. Manamu is made from hazelnut oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, gardenia essential oil, vitamin E, various roots, and ancient plants inherited from Balinese tradition.
One time Malaika ran out of the perfume she used to use, and it turned out that the fragrance was no longer being produced. Finally, she tried to mix her own scent with a similar aroma. But several times she made it, the results differed from what she expected. Annoyed, she threw the perfume bottle away. That’s where the name Mad Madam came from, a perfume favored by socialites in her circle. The smell is exotic, tempting, long-lasting, and, most importantly, off the market because it can only be acquired directly from Malaika. There is also Not A Perfume, which has a milder aroma and can be used even in sensitive areas because it doesn’t use alcohol. While men can use Jernat. Just like its dashing name, this perfume gives the impression of being bold, elegant, and expensive. Only selected people can have it because it is made in limited quantities.
